About the Artist
Masao Tanibe, born in 1974 in Nagoya, Japan, began piano lessons and general music education at the age of four. He began guitar three years later. After completing his European history studies at the Tokyo University, Tanibe went to Germany to further study guitar in Cologne at the Music University.
He has won numerous prizes in international guitar competitions in Japan, Poland, Germany, Thailand and Italy. He made his debut at Vario Hall in Tokyo in 2000, and has given concerts in Portugal, Spain, Poland, Italy, Germany, Belgium, Austria, and Japan, and been invited to international music festivals all over Europe and Japan.
His repertoire includes renaissance and baroque music for lute, cembalo and violin, arrangements from the operas of Mozart and Rossini, contemporary music, Latin American music, and works by Japanese composers.
