About the Artist

Jones II Music director and Composer - William Hubbard Set - Milagros Ponce de Leon Lighting Adam Magazine Costumes - LeVonne Lindsay Sound - Tony Angelini Stage manager - Che Wernsman The Cast Desire Dubose Crystal Fox Bernardine Mitchell Inspired by Chekhov's Three Sisters, award-winning writer and director Tom Jones has written an elegant intimate musical, which reunites three "sistahs" on the day of their brother's funeral in 1969, as they revisit the past and confront the future. An evening of gospel and blues shout through the walls and fill the house with a tapestry of musical styles from the era. Thomas W. Jones II has directed, written and performed in over 150 plays worldwide. In the past 8 years in Washington his work has received 28 Helen Hayes Award nominations, and 9 awards including the 2002 Helen Hayes Award for Best Director for Home at Round House Theatre. He wrote and directed Harlem Rose, A Love Song to Langston Hughes for MetroStage last season. William Hubbard was last seen at MetroStage in Harlem Rose, where he also collaborated with director Tom Jones as music director, composer, and accompanist. He was the music director for City at Peace for seven years and is currently the music director at First Baptist Church of Highland Park. Desire Dubose was seen last season at MetroStage as Missy in Harlem Rose. She is a member of Washington's Best Musicians and has performed throughout the area including the 2002 East Coast Jazz Festival. She is a Musical Theatre graduate of Howard University. Crystal Fox is a recent recipient of the Oregon 2002 Drammy Award for Best Actress for For Colored Girls at Portland Center Stage and a 2002 Helen Hayes nominee for Round House Theatre's production of Home as Best Supporting Actress. Crystal is still recognized for her six year portrayal of Sgt. Corbin on the syndicated television series In the Heat of the Night. Bernardine Mitchell is the 2002 Helen Hayes Award winner for Best Actress in Arena Stage's production of Blues in the Night. She starred in Bessie's Blues, also written and directed by Tom Jones, at Studio Theatre where she received a Helen Hayes nomination and in L.A. where she won the Dramalogue Award for her performance.
