LISA MOSCATIELLO
About the Artist
Lisa Moscatiello was born in 1966 and grew up in Arlington, VA. She absorbed her parents’ broad musical tastes, which included Leonard Bernstein, Sarah Vaughan, Puccini, and folk albums by Peter, Paul and Mary and Joan Baez. She became lead singer for the traditional Irish trio Ceoltoiri (with Sue Richards and Karen Ashbrook) in 1982 at age 16.
From 1984 to 1988, Moscatiello attended Yale University, majoring in history. From 1989 to 1995, Moscatiello was also a member of the British folk-rock band The New St. George. Her 1996 debut solo album, “Innocent When You Dream,” received a Washington Area Music Award for “Contemporary Folk Album of the Year.
Moscatiello tours all over North America, both as a soloist and with Whirligig, performing at the Newport Folk Festival, the Philadelphia Folk Festival, Winnipeg Folk Festival, New York University Theater, Fez in New York City, Passim in Boston, and many other festivals, concert halls and clubs around the country.
