SIGNATURE THEATRE
About the Artist
The John F. Kennedy Center was home to Signature's Overtures Musical Theatre Institute from its inception in 2003 until recently, when Overtures moved to Signature Theatre's beautiful facilities in Shirlington, Virginia. On June 21, twenty talented young performers arrived at Signature to begin the unique, intensive two-week, professional training workshop. The program provides rigorous and comprehensive instruction in vocal technique, dance, movement, and acting. The Overtures staff, under the direction of Eric Schaeffer, includes award-winning choreographer and Signature Theatre Artistic Associate Karma Camp; Jane Pesci-Townsend, professional actress and Chair of the Rome School of Music at Catholic University; Jay Crowder, Chair of the Music Department at Montgomery College, and Andrew Long, award-winning actor and member of The Shakespeare Theatre acting company and teaching staff. A series of Master Classes are taught by a host of Broadway performers and composers and Tony® Award winners.
