The Kennedy Center

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., the National Center for the Performing Arts, is a premiere location for your distinctive special event. Individuals, corporations, foundations, and associations have hosted unforgettable galas, receptions, dinners, and award ceremonies at the Center. Past clients include Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Choral Arts Society, TEDMED, and the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

  • Eligibility requirements for hosting an event at the Kennedy Center: Purchase tickets to a Kennedy Center performance in one of our theaters. To purchase tickets or inquire about the performance schedule for a particular date please contact our Group Sales Office.
  • A minimum tax-deductible contribution to the Kennedy Center's Corporate Fund or Annual Fund. In addition to the opportunity to rent space at the Kennedy Center, you will receive many other wonderful benefits.

Soliciting or accepting contributions on Kennedy Center property, for non-profit organizations other than the Kennedy Center, is prohibited, except in very limited circumstances and only with the prior approval of Kennedy Center management. Under no circumstances will fundraising for political campaigns or Political Action Committees be permitted.

Booking Procedures

Please contact the Special Events Office for assistance with availability and other questions. After a date has been put on hold, you will be contacted by Restaurants Associates to determine menu, beverage and event details.

Payment

We require a 50 percent non-refundable deposit on the room fee two weeks after the signed contract is issued. Full prepayment is due 30 days prior to your event.

Insurance

All events at the Kennedy Center require insurance which can be purchased through the Center, if your company carries liability insurance this fee can be waived with a copy of your insurance certificate meeting our requirements.

Ushers

In order to keep your event private, the Kennedy Center will hire ushers to stand at either entrance to your event to help direct your patrons; prices are based on the needs for your event.

Event Parking

Clients my offer their guests parking vouchers which will be charged to the client at the conclusion of the event based on the number of vouchers collected.

Production

Prices vary depending on your needs and can include lighting, background music, microphones, scenic elements and staging, projectors and screens and plasma TVs.

Vendors

The Kennedy Center and Restaurant Associates reserve the right of final approval of entertainment and any other outside vendors selected for the event, as well as all décor brought onto the premises. We will be glad to provide you with a list of preferred vendors for your event. All deliveries and shipping of boxes for storage must be coordinated with your event manager. Vendors are responsible for all preparation, materials brought into the building and removal.

Promotional Materials

Clients must provide a copy of any materials in which the Kennedy Center's name is to appear for review, prior to printing or distributing materials for approval. This includes press releases, save-the-date cards, invitations, and letters of invitation, promotional materials, brochures, programs and signage at the event

Security

The Kennedy Center is a secure facility with 24 hour on-site security. Your event manager will work with you should you be interested in hiring additional security; prices are based on the needs for your event.

Cancellation Policy

In the event a function is canceled by the client, the client must pay the Kennedy Center percentages of the estimated charges to cover the cancellation fee.

Inclement Weather Policy

In case of inclement weather, special events booked at the Kennedy Center will be canceled if the Center cancels performances. Should this happen, your event manager will work closely with you to reschedule the event.
