The 2013 National Symphony Orchestra Season Opening Ball Sunday, September 29, 2013
We hope you can join us for this memorable evening on September 29 to kick-off the 83rd season of the National Symphony Orchestra. Chaired by Admiral Jay L. Johnson and Sydney McNiff Johnson, this year's event includes an extraordinary performance conducted by NSO and Kennedy Center Music Director Christoph Eschenbach with world-renowned cellist, Yo-Yo Ma, and young organist, Cameron Carpenter. Acclaimed by the New York Times for reinventing the organ by "meshing virtuosity with musical intelligence," Carpenter will perform the Finale from Saint-Saëns "Organ Symphony" on our new Rubenstein Family Organ, and Ma joins the Orchestra for Tchaikovsky's timeless Rococo Variations. Following the concert, the gala festivities continue with an elegant dinner and dancing, all proceeds of the evening support the Orchestra's many artistic, education, and community engagement programs throughout the year.
