Join on-line now and immediately become eligible to win an exclusive "Night Out at the Kennedy Center" for you and a guest. You will be automatically entered into a drawing to receive dinner for two at the Roof Terrace Restaurant and two box seats to Billy Elliot the Musical on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at 7:30 p.m., as well as a free parking pass for the evening!

Throughout the month of September we invite you to be a part of Kennedy Center Membership. Did you know The Kennedy Center receives no direct federal appropriations for artistic programming? By law, our appropriations must be applied only to the maintenance of the actual building. Ticket sales and other earned income cover only about half of our operating expenses, which means we must raise over $72 million annually to deliver the kind of excellence on the stage and in our many programs for children, teachers, aspiring artists, and underserved communities that you -- and they -- have come to expect.

By becoming a Member, not only will you support magnificent artistic and educational programs, but you will also receive fantastic benefits that will make your Kennedy Center experience even more enjoyable.

With your gift comes a Members-Only newsletter, On the Aisle, to keep you up-to-date and informed of upcoming performances and special Member benefits. Purchase tickets to many of the Kennedy Center's renowned presentations before the general public. Depending on the level of Membership you choose you may enjoy access to elite Member Lounges, receive invitations to meet our renowned artists, enjoy a backstage tour, and much more!

*No Purchase or Contribution Necessary to enter contest and will not increase your chances of winning. See Official Rules for details.

As a monument to President Kennedy, the U.S. government provides funding for the building's maintenance and upkeep only. All performances—the elements that make the Kennedy Center a mesmerizing, living memorial to one of our most inspirational leaders— must be funded independently.

Only 42% of the Center's budget is funded by ticket sales and other earned income. If we relied only on ticket sales for our performance budgets, the results would be a devastating reduction in quality. Imagine an opera with half of the cast missing. Think of the "Nutcracker" without the corps de ballet or take the string section away from a Bach concerto. For each production, the Kennedy Center must raise approximately 39% of the cost from other sources—and so we look to those who value the arts most: our Members.

Your Membership contribution will help to raise the curtain on performances of international repute—events like the classical and cutting edge ballet companies, all new Kennedy Center productions and festivals, and the National Symphony Orchestra. It is the performances that make the Kennedy Center more than just another marble monument—the theater, opera, music, and dance performances on our stages provide the flame of inspiration that enriches us all.
