Global Friends: Celebrating and Connecting Cultures through Arts Volunteerism
Global Friends are a special group within the Friends of the Kennedy Center's volunteer program, hailing from 35 different countries (including Argentina, Bulgaria, Cuba, China France, Germany, India, Japan, Sierra Leone, Turkey, and Venezuela) and providing support for the Center's international initiatives and programming. Kennedy Center President Michael M. Kaiser's keen interest in the performing arts of other cultures has changed the face of the institution and that of the Friends as well. This is reflected in the Global Friends' motto: Celebrating and Connecting Cultures through Arts Volunteerism.
Global Friends serve either as either full-time active Friends or as members of the Friends Outreach Committee. They assist with special international/multicultural projects supporting the promotion of arts volunteerism globally. If you are visiting the U.S. for a temporary (e.g. expat) assignment, if you hail from or currently live in a country outside the United States, or if you speak at least one foreign language fluently and are passionate about the arts, you would be the perfect Global Friend! You might also enjoy being part of our team of Festival/Event volunteers, who help the Friends with staffing for all the festivals the Center presents throughout the year, including international and multicultural festivals. For more information, please see Festival/Event Volunteering.
Global Friends play a vital role in Celebrating and Connecting Cultures through Arts Volunteerism at the Kennedy Center, and also serve as a role model for promoting arts volunteerism globally.
