Nawal Ziyadeh and Kwalismaller "Being a first generation Jordanian-American, I have been immersed in the Arabic culture from mensif to Um Kalthoum. My mother has instilled the value of community service from an early age, yet Arabesque was my first volunteer experience in the arts. This remarkable festival has been a great experience not only aesthetically, but culturally as well. My mother and I just joined the Friends because we had such a wonderful experience. Shukran, Arabesque!"
- Nawal Ziyadeh, first generation Jordanian-American [daughter of Kwala Nimri, Jordan]

5 primary volunteer areas:

"Ask not what the Kennedy Center can do for you, ask what you can do for the Kennedy Center."
- Bill Turner, Saturday Tour Guide since 1988

Other Volunteer Opportunities

Short-term Volunteer Program

Thank you for your interest in the Friends of the Kennedy Center short-term Volunteer Program. We are currently not accepting applications for our short-term volunteer program. Please be sure to revisit the site for additional updates after August 1, 2008.

Click to download the short-term volunteer application.

Short-term volunteers are needed for one-day workshops or short-term projects lasting up to six months. Applicants are accepted throughout the year, and applications are kept on file for one year. These projects and workshops, along with any special skills needed for these projects, will be posted on the Friends Web page. The Friends office will then notify any qualified applicants for an interview. Some of past short-term assignments have included assisting with the Dance Theatre of Harlem workshops, acting as consultants for graphic design projects in the Friends office, and translating Kennedy Center documents into various languages.

As an active short-term Friend, you will receive $2 parking rates, occasional offers for $15 tickets, and a 25% discount at the Kennedy Center Gift Shops.
