A rising young star on the contemporary jazz scene, the résumé of 2009 Grammy-nominated guitar virtuoso Julian Lage reads like a "who's who" of jazz. Identified as a prodigy at age six, Lage has played and/or recorded with the likes of Herbie Hancock, Béla Fleck, Gary Burton, Christian McBride, Toots Thielemans, and Pat Metheney, among many others. Fans of Django Reinhardt will recall his outstanding January 2010 appearance with Mark O'Connor at the Terrace Theater, recreating Reinhardt and Grappelli's Hot Club of France. Lage brings his offbeat, eclectic group--cellist Aristides Rivas, percussionist Tupac Mantilla, bassist Jorge Roeder, and saxophonist Dan Blake--to the KC Jazz Club for performances that include selections from his April 2011 release, Gladwell.
