Israeli clarinetist Anat Cohen brings her quartet to the Kennedy Center to debut selections from her forthcoming CD. Popular with both critics and fans alike, Cohen, "one of the brightest, most original young instrumentalists in jazz" (The Washington Post), was voted number one in the clarinet category in both the 2011 DownBeat critics and readers polls. For this concert, she'll present her own specialized take on jazz, combining modern jazz with classical music, Brazilian choro, and Argentine tango, with pianist Jason Lindner, bassist Joe Martin, and drummer Daniel Freedman. Her 2010 Kennedy Center performances sold out in the larger Terrace Theater, so be sure to buy your tickets early for the more intimate KC Jazz Club.
Performance Timing: 75 minutes, with no intermission.
