Watch: Christian Tetzlaff invites you to his concerts
Christian Tetzlaff's "sheer, explosive virtuosity" (The New York Times) comes to the fore in the U.S. premiere of Jörg Widmann's Violin Concerto, a work the emerging German composer wrote especially for him. Beethoven's First and Second Symphonies frame the program, completing the NSO's recent Beethoven cycle. The First Symphony is a colorful showcase for Beethoven's wit and ingenuity. The Second Symphony reveals the composer's mischievous spirit and warmth of heart.
Performance Timing: Part One - 53 min.; Intermission - 15 min.; Part Two - 32 min.
NOTE: Christian Tetzlaff will sign CDs in the Concert Hall Foyer following the NSO performances on Friday, Feb. 28 and Saturday, Mar. 1.
