The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) is mandated to lead and coordinate international action to protect refugees and resolve refugee problems worldwide. Marking World Refugee Day 2012 on June 20, UNHCR launches an exhibit that chronicles life in the world's largest refugee camp in Dadaab, Kenya.

Dadaab Stories is a web-native, multimedia documentary project that brings together video, photography, poetry, music, illustration, community journalism, and individual blogs.  It is a living, curated collection of personal stories, an art piece and an advocacy tool, an online community and an oral history archive.  The Dadaab camps are home to almost 500,000 Somali refugees and humanitarian workers.  And countless more from around the  globe have come through the camps and had their lives touched by this extraordinary place.  Every one of them has a story to tell.  Dadaab Stories is a place for those stories to live.
