The Kennedy Center offers a limited number of Specially Priced Tickets (SPTs) at 50% off the full Box Office price, subject to availability, for some attractions to eligible patrons.
When purchasing or picking up tickets at the Box Office, you must appear in person and show a valid identification or other proof of eligibility for SPTs such as:
A limited number of SPTs are available for some Kennedy Center attractions. Advance SPTs are not available for any Saturday evenings or for the Friday evening "Shear Madness" performances.
IN PERSON AT THE BOX OFFICE: The Central Box Office for all theaters is located in the Kennedy Center's Hall of States. Box Office hours are Monday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-9 p.m., and Sundays and holidays, Noon-9 p.m. Sixty minutes of free parking is available for patrons making ticket purchases and exchanges with validation from the Box Office. Free parking is NOT available from the Columbia Plaza garage. The Box Office accepts cash, checks, travelers' checks, MasterCard, Visa, American Express.
BY PHONE: Tickets may be charged by phone through Instant-Charge at (202) 416-8529 or (202) 416-8528 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. The TTY number is (202) 416-8524. There is a service charge for phone orders. Instant-Charge accepts Visa, Mastercard, American Express. Tickets ordered by phone at least 14 days in advance will be mailed, or may be picked up at the Box Office at your request. Write the name of the event for which you are ordering tickets, the date, and the time. Please use this order form for mail order tickets [requires Adobe Acrobat]. Enclose check or credit card number along with name, address (printed) and a daytime telephone number. Patrons with SPT IDs should include their ID number on the order form. Persons with Permanent Disabilities may purchase specially priced tickets by obtaining an SPT ID. With an SPT ID, a patron with a disability may order up to two tickets at half price in order to bring a companion for assistance. To obtain an SPT ID, mail a letter or other certification from your doctor stating that you have a permanent disability, along with your name, address, and phone number, to:Friends of the Kennedy Center SPT Program
Your SPT ID will be mailed within two to three weeks. With your ID you can order SPT tickets, subject to availability, by calling (202) 416-8529 (voice) or (202) 416-8524 (TTY). To replace a lost or stolen SPT ID please call the Friends of the Kennedy Center at (202) 416-8320.
SPTs also are sometimes sold on the day of a performance, for designated performances subject to availability, beginning at Noon for matinees and 6 p.m. for evening performances from the Box Office. You will be asked to present proof of eligibility at the Box Office when you purchase your tickets. Patrons with a permanent disability and a Kennedy Center ID may purchase day of performance SPTs when available, starting at 10:00 a.m. on the day of the performance by phone at (202) 416-8529 (voice) or (202) 416-8524 (TTY).
If your organization is a direct service provider to people with disabilities and has a 501-c-3non-profit status with the IRS, your organization can apply for a Kennedy Center ID that allows you to purchase up to 19 SPTs for disabled clients and their caregivers or personal care attendants.
