In partnership with the Juilliard School, seven teens from the 75 Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington Teen Arts Performance (TAP) troupe perform "edutainment" songs: Jermaine Harris, Analisa Walls, Avery Bagarsse, Samantha Long, Tyriq Al-Sabir, Racheal Edwards and Mayila Jones. The performance arts program was founded and is directed by Tony M. Small. Also, renowned jazz musicians from the 2010 Juilliard Jazz Residency perform: drummer and Artistic Director Carl Allen, pianist Frank Kimbrough, bassist Ben Wolfe, guitarist Rodney Jones, saxophonist Ron Blake, and trombonist James Burton.

University of Maryland School of Theater, Dance and Performance Studies presents: Musical Theater Workshop

Students from the University of Maryland present a contemporary Broadway Cabaret. Created by the students themselves, under the direction of Scot Reese with musical direction by Doug Lawler, this musical theater showcase features songs and duets from the modern musical stage.

Yale Whiffenpoofs

James A. Johnson Young Artist Series: The Yale Whiffenpoofs come to the Millennium Stage for an evening of a cappella music. Founded in 1909, the ‘Whiffs” began as a quartet of Yale seniors. Today, the group has become one of Yale’s most celebrated traditions and is the world’s oldest and best-known collegiate a cappella group. This performance is part of the James A. Johnson Young Artist Series, made possible by Target.

School Without Walls

School Without Walls, a Kennedy Center D.C. Partnership Initiative School, presents a musical evening featuring their eight-piece Stage Band and Concert Choir. The band will present a variety of contemporary popular music from the 1950s to the present day, while the choir, comprised of 25 students, will perform standard concert music. Free general admission tickets will be distributed in the States Gallery starting at approximately 5:30 p.m., up to two tickets per person.
