The Conservatory Project: Rice University & Eastman School of Music

The Conservatory Project is an initiative designed to present the young musical artists in classical, jazz, musical theater, opera, and more from our nation’s leading undergraduate and graduate conservatories, colleges, and universities in performance at the Kennedy Center.
Free general admission tickets will be distributed in the States Gallery starting at approximately 5 p.m., up to two tickets per person.

Twin sisters, Las Áñez, sing their own Latin-American songs in a unique way, combining folklore and contemporary music. They perform delightfully unexpected arrangements of minimal percussion, a loop station, and keyboard.

Annelies is a choral work for soprano soloist, choir, and instrumentalists. The libretto is compiled and translated by Melanie Challenger from The Diary of Anne Frank, with music by James Whitbourn. Annelies is the full forename of Anne Frank, now commonly referred to by her abbreviated forename, Anne. This captivating work is a masterful selection of texts from Anne Frank’s diary in a celebration of the young girl’s affirmation of life. The performance includes Colla Voce (Chamber Choir) directed by Larry Wyatt, soprano Ariana Wyatt, a piano trio (David Ehrlich, Benjamin Wyat, Teresa Ehrlich), and clarinetist Phil Paglialonga.
NSO Prelude

NSO Prelude: Musicians of the National Symphony Orchestra play a program of works by Maurice Ravel, August Klughardt, and Francis Poulenc. Flautist Leah Arsenault, oboeist Jamie Roberts, clarinetist Kristin King, horn player Robert Rearden, bassoonist Samuel Blair, and pianist Jamila Tekalli perform.
