Patron FAQs Regarding WNO-Kennedy Center Affiliation

As part of the WNO-Kennedy Center affiliation, which is effective July 1, 2011, WNO patrons may be assured that the Opera will continue regular operations.

  • The quality of your artistic experience remains the top priority for both WNO and the Kennedy Center.
  • Your seats will remain Your seats. Your gifts will continue to support the Opera's artistic initiatives and education/outreach programs.

Below are answers to some of the anticipated questions patrons may have regarding the WNO-Kennedy Center affiliation. WNO and the Kennedy Center will share any additional patron information as it becomes available.

What does an affiliation entail?

The affiliation plan is intended to strengthen the missions of both WNO and the Kennedy Center. It will allow the Kennedy Center to offer outstanding opera performances and events, while assuring long-term financial security for WNO's continued artistic development. WNO will remain a separate 501(c)3 organization and retain its board of trustees. The Kennedy Center will assume responsibility for WNO's administrative and business functions.

Who should I call for ticket and performance information?

WNO tickets are available through the Kennedy Center Box Office: in person, via Instant-Charge at (202) 467-4600, or online at www.kennedy-center.org/tickets/.

How do I login to my account?

As of July 1st, 2011, the Kennedy Center and Washington National Opera have affiliated and we want to make you aware of a few changes regarding how you can interact with your account.

If you have previously registered accounts with both the Kennedy Center and Washington National Opera websites, you will only be able to use your Kennedy Center account login information to log-in to our sites. If you have a Washington National Opera account, but have never held a Kennedy Center account, you can use your WNO account information to log-in.

If you have forgotten your account information, you can go to the login page and click Forgot username or password? and we will send you a message via e-mail so that you can retrieve your account information.”

I want to renew my subscription or purchase a new subscription for the 2011-2012 season. Who do I call?

Order online or call the Subscription Office at (202) 416-8500, Mon.-Fri., 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

What will happen to my subscriber benefits?

Full season subscriber benefits in the 2011-2012 season will remain. These include free performance ticket exchanges, 10% discounts on additional mainstage opera tickets, no subscription handling fees and payment plans.

Will subscription pricing remain the same?

There will be no price increases going into the 2011-2012 season.

Will there be changes to the performer roster or the performance schedule?

The 2011-2012 seasons is scheduled and confirmed, and all tickets sold to those performances will be honored.*

I am a donor. Will my gifts continue to support Washington National Opera?

Yes, your gifts will continue to support the Opera. Your gifts are vital to the company's success and are greatly appreciated. Learn more about supporting WNO.

Will the Opera's offerings change? How will the affiliation affect the quality of performances?

WNO and the Kennedy Center have a shared commitment to presenting performances and programs of the highest quality. The 2011-2012 season is confirmed, and the Kennedy Center will be a part of artistic decision-making for future seasons.
