Baritone

A native of Fort Worth, Texas, baritone Michael Adams joins WNO's Domingo-Cafritz Young Artist Program in the fall of 2016. In the 2015-2016 season he was an ensemble member of the Deutsche Oper Berlin, where he appeared as Ping in Turandot, the Marquis in La traviata, and Harašta in The Cunning Little Vixen. He also made his company debut at the Grand Théâtre de Genève as Melisso in Alcina. He previously completed two years as a Resident Artist at the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia, where he sang the roles of Valentin in Faust, Guglielmo in Così fan tutte, Lescaut in Manon, and Tomsky in Pique Dame, among other roles. A Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions semi-finalist in 2015, he also won first place at the 2015 Gerda Lissner International Vocal Competition, Licia Albanese-Puccini Foundation International Vocal Competition, and the Mario Lanza Competition. He has previously sung with Santa Fe Opera, Fort Worth Opera, Wolf Trap Opera, and Seagle Music Colony. In the summer of 2016, he will appear as Lescaut in Manon at Des Moines Metro Opera.
