Andrew Bogard

Originally from Columbus, Ohio, bass-baritone Andrew Bogard joins WNO's Domingo-Cafritz Young Artist Program in the fall of 2016. In the 2015-2016 season, he was a Young Artist at Palm Beach Opera and a member of Opera Philadelphia's Emerging Artists Program. His recent performance credits include Lakai/Truffaldino in Ariadne auf Naxos at Palm Beach Opera; Nicholas in Vanessa at Santa Fe Opera; Doctor Grenvil in La traviata at Opera Philadelphia; Abbott/Astrologer in The Burning Fiery Furnace at Ballet-Opéra-Pantomime in Montreal; and Nick Shadow in The Rake's Progress, Alidoro in La Cenerentola, and Dulcamara in L'elisir d'amore at the Curtis Institute of Music. He spent several summers at the Chautauqua Institution's Music Festival, where he appeared as the Marquis de la Force (Dialogues of the Carmelites), Leporello (Don Giovanni), Dulcamara (L'elisir d'amore), Simone (Gianni Schicchi), Reverend Hale (The Crucible), and Colline (La bohème). He won first place in the 2014 Mario Lanza Scholarship Competition, second place and audience choice in the 2015 Cooper-Bing Opera Columbus Competition, and was a Mid-Atlantic regional finalist and encouragement award recipient in the 2015 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. A graduate of the Juilliard School (Bachelor of Music) and the Curtis Institute of Music (Master of Music).
