Join Washington National Opera for M&M'S® Opera in the Outfield at Nationals Park!

Celebrate the eighth season of free live opera simulcasts at the ballpark by joining WNO for the family friendly opera, Gioachino Rossini's Cinderella on Saturday, May 16 at 7 p.m. Gates open at 5 p.m.

M&M'S® Opera in the Outfield will take place rain or shine!

Arrive early to Nationals Park to enjoy entertainment and activities including:

  • A Royal Parade in which kids of all ages are invited to arrive in costume and march around the lower concourse (begins at 6:00 p.m. Please meet at section 131-132 at 5:45 p.m.)
  • Photo opportunities for kids of all ages with characters from Cinderella and with the living statue of Babe Ruth
  • Chances to win prizes, including tickets to family friendly Kennedy Center performances, the opportunity to attend the Kennedy Center 4th of July Celebration, and two tickets to the Kennedy Center 18th Annual Mark Twain Prize for American Humor
  • Performances by local artists including students from the Duke Ellington School of the Arts Opera Program and the Watkins Elementary Choir
  • A screening of the Warner Bros. cartoon "What's Opera, Doc?," starring Bugs Bunny and his nemesis Elmer Fudd
  • A meet and greet with Chief Chocolate Officer (CCO) of M&M'S® Ms. Brown
  • Kids can also play in the open playground, dress up with items from our costume trunk, visit the craft table, and have their faces painted
  • And more!

Seating in the Outfield

Due to the increased popularity of M&M'S® Opera in the Outfield, patrons wishing to sit in the outfield will be required to pick up a wristband when they enter Nationals Park. The wristbands will be available on a first-come, first-served basis and will be distributed at a table to the left of Center Field Plaza when the gates open at 5 p.m.

  • Wristbands are free and the only way to gain access to outfield seating.
  • Wristbands will be distributed at a table to the left of Center Field Plaza near the Family Picnic Area (at sections 141-143). There will be signs to guide you to the table and to the field entrances.
  • Distribution of wristbands will begin promptly at 5 p.m. when the park gates open.
  • Seating is limited, so the wristbands will be handed out on a first-come, first-served basis. You must be present to receive a wristband; one (1) wristband per person.
  • Once all of the available wristbands have been claimed, an announcement will be made over the stadium sound system and field access will be closed to those without a wristband.
  • Guests are able to check their strollers at our Guest Services locations in Center Field Plaza and at Section 131 on the main concourse.

Plenty of free seating will be available throughout the park for the duration of the evening. Only outfield seating requires a wristband.


  • Symbol of Accessibility
    Accessible seating is available throughout the park. Arrangements for a wheelchair to transport a guest to a seat from the park entrance must be made in advance by calling the Nationals Guest Services at (202) 640-7580 (voice).
  • Open-captioning Symbol
    This event will be captioned.
  • Assistive Listening Devices Symbol
    Assistive listening devices (ALDs) may be signed out free of charge from Guest Services located at the Center Field Gate. A valid driver's license will be held until the device is returned.

Stadium Information

Nationals Park is located at 1500 South Capitol Street SE, Washington, DC 20003.

Guests who plan to sit in the outfield grass may bring blankets to sit on. Chairs are not permitted on the grass. Nationals Park concessions will be open for the simulcast. No alcoholic beverages may be brought into Nationals Park. No bags larger than 16 inches x 16 inches x 8 inches will be allowed into the ballpark. All bags are subject to inspection. Metro Information

Metro is the quickest and easiest way to get to Nationals Park.

Take Metro's Green Line to Navy Yard-Ballpark station it's just a half block from Nationals Park. And remember, Metro has more than 57,000 parking spaces at its stations.

Buses that serve Nationals Park: 74, A42, A46, A48, P6, V7, V8, and V9 and Capitol Hill Circulator.
