Biography

The Reston Chapter chartered in 1975, has made a meaningful and positive difference in Northern Virginia. The Chapter achieves its mission through projects and events that address the needs of women, youth, the elderly and financially challenged families. The Chapter provides two signature programs “Are You Ready?” to address the issues of aging and High eSTEAM, targeted to teens and young adults in the area of STEM and the Arts. Both programs provide transformational and impactful activities, as well as financial support that are consistent with the national organization of The Links, Incorporated.

Video 3/16/2019: Youth Arts EXPLOSION … Moving Full STEAM Ahead!

The Reston Chapter of The Links, Incorporated and the Washington, DC Chapter of The Society Incorporated, co-sponsors a bi-annual “Youth Arts Showcase Explosion … Moving Full STEAM Ahead” event, in collaboration with the Community Initiatives Education Division of the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. This year, six exceptionally talented African American High School seniors, from the DMV area, will showcase their talents on the Kennedy Center’s Millennium stage. Each competing student will be awarded a scholarship for advancing their education and careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM). Also, separate workshops will be held with parents of the students, and with the students to provide guidance on, “Having a Successful College Experience”, and, “Paving the Way to a Successful Performing Career.
