Sariyah Idan

Jazz and folk trained, hip-hop educated, and influenced by her Jewish roots, Sariyah Idan embodies fiery sensuality rooted in cultural, social and verbal poetry. A New York bred Los Angeles/Berlin based independent singer-songwriter, producer, and bandleader, Sariyah grew up touring as a singer and dancer in the world folk ensemble The Vanaver Caravan. Sariyah was opened to a global awareness, through her work with the Vanavers, La Mama experimental theater club in NYC and Italy, and as a spoken word poet at venues like the Nuyorican. The sonic tapestry of her music is an expression of both multicultural urban identity and cultural activism. Her poetic lyrics and vocals recently featured on first nations hip hop artist Artson’s top charting album “Brave Star” Dumi RIGHT’s album “Doing It The Right Way”, and DJ Haj I Ji’s EP “Reports of My Demise”. Following the release of her “Deeper Than Skin EP” and “Not Afraid Mixtape”, Sariyah is currently completing her debut full length album recorded in Los Angeles, Berlin, and Lisbon. “Musically layered and emotionally rich, the smouldering track showcases the New York-bred, L.A.-based artist’s ability to seamlessly combine a wide variety of disparate styles and sonics into a memorable sound all her own.” - Darryl Sterdan, on single “Darkness” from “Breaking Shadows”
