Ketan Mehta

Ketan Mehta is a movie director and a part of the international film circuit. He was born in 1952 in Gujarat, India and spent a part of his life in New Delhi, moving to Pune to complete a course in film direction at the Film and Television Institute of India. He is married to actress Deepa Sahi who has appeared in some of his films including Maya M saab and Aar Ya Paar. In addition to directing movies and documentaries, Ketan has also tried his hand in directing television serials. His directorial debut was the 1980 Gujarati movie Bhavni Bhavai, which starred Naseeruddin Shah and Smita Patil, and revolved around the caste syst. Since then, he has helmed such movies as Holi ; Mirch Masala, awarded Best Feature Film at the Hawaii International Film Festival and the Golden Prize at the Moscow International Film Festival; Maya M saab, an adaptation of Madame Bovary; Sardar, based on the life of Sardar Vallabhai Patel; and Mangal Pandey: The Rising starring Aamir Khan.
