Devon Sproule

Devon Sproule calls Charlottesville, Virginia, home despite the fact that she and her musician/songwriter husband, Paul Curreri, spend a lot of time touring and performing in Europe. Devon’s newest collection of songs, Don’t Hurry for Heaven, produced by Paul Curreri and featuring a cameo by fellow-Virginian Jesse Winchester, was released by Black Hen Records this past Spring and given four stars by Mojo and Uncut Magazine. Her previous effort, 2007’s Keep Your Silver Shined received praise from Paste Magazine and featured singing from Virginia-native, Mary Chapin Carpenter. Supporting the record, Devon toured with Woodstock legend Richie Havens, Lambchop frontman Kurt Wagner, and supported back-to-back nights in London with Lucinda Williams. Devon’s breakout record, Upstate Songs, was included in Rolling Stone’s Critics Top Albums of 2003 and she was the first American to grace the cover of Roots in the new millennium. In 2009, she was the recipient of The ASCAP Foundation Sammy Cahn Award.
