Terrell Stafford

Trumpeter and flugelhornist Terell Stafford toured and recorded with Bobby Watson's quintet Horizon (1990)-95), receiving praise for his performance on Horizon's 1994 release, Midwest Shuffle. Since the mid 1990s, Mr. Stafford has been performing with jazz groups led by Kenny Barron, John and Jeff Clayton, Herbie Mann, Cedar Walton, and Sadao Watanabe, McCoy Tyner's Latin All-StaR&Band, and most of New York's big jazz bands. He has since performed as a sid an on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, You Bet Your Life with Bill Cosby, and the soundtrack for the feature film, A Bronx Tale. His recordings as a leader include Time To Let Go (Candid, 1995), Centripetal Force (1997), Fields of Gold (2000) and New Beginnings (MAXJAZZ, 2003). Mr. Stafford was a featured guest artist for the Kennedy Center/NPR produced program, Billy Taylor's Jazz at the Kennedy Center with the Billy Taylor Trio and has appeared with the Clayton Brothers Quartet in the KC Jazz Club, where he will return with vocalist Carla Cook to invoke the atmosphere of the 40's with their paeans to Dizzy Gillespie and Sarah Vaughan (May 6-7, 2005).
