Tobin Stokes

Tobin Stokes has been commissioned by orchestras in Canada and by choirs in countries such as Spain, France, and Sweden. His choral music is published in Canada, the United States, and France. Mr. Stokes has written various music for large events, such as the 2010 Olympics, and is currently the Composer in Residence with international choir festivals in both Canada and Sweden. His work in his west coast province of British Columbia includes many pieces and projects that include First Nations elders, myths, and melodies. Mr. Stokes's orchestral works include two symphonies, a piano concerto, and various other overtures. He has been involved with theater for over a dozen years as musical director, musician, composer, and sound designer. His music has been used for documentary film and television plays on BBC, CBC, and PBS. His fourth chamber opera, Pauline, with libretto by world-renowned Canadian author Margaret Atwood, premieres this May in Vancouver. Current as of March 2014
