Kennedy Center x Union Stage present:
CHAI with This/Side

Japanese four-piece CHAI may worship at the altar of kawaii–their homeland’s culture of cute–but they’re not about to be pushed around by the idle bosses and the ignorant patriarchy. The ultra-concise pop of their debut LP PINK is about to be overhauled on their new album. CHAI are ready to light the fuse; CHAI are PUNK.

Thu., Aug 1
Kennedy Center x Smithsonian Year of Music present:
JP Harris and Karen Jonas

JP Harris doesn’t fancy himself so much a musician as he does a carpenter who writes country songs. His latest album, Sometimes Dogs Bark at Nothing, received a 2018 Independent Music Awards nomination for Best Country Album and was named one of Paste Magazine’s 100 Best Albums 2018.

Americana artist/Fredericksburg native Karen Jonas has garnered international acclaim with each of her three albums, charting high in both the US and UK. Recently, she was a featured artist at South By Southwest, named “Best Local Band” in the Free Lance-Star’s “Best of the ‘Burg” contest, and awarded the “Best Country/Americana Artist” award by the Washington Area Music Awards. Her fourth studio album, Lucky, Revisited will released in July.
Featured brewery: Port City Brewing Co.
