Try on different styles of dance while beating the winter blues in these fitness-focused classes held the first Saturday of the month, November 2019 through March 2020. Each class will be offered in collaboration with a local dance fitness professional or organization. All experience levels welcome and celebrated.

Nov. 2: Barrecrawl with SideBarre DC (Studio J)
Strong. Active. Graceful.
Sidebarre is a high intensity, low impact full body workout with classes that build and tone in all of the right places, sculpting your best body yet. Although no dance experience is required at all, their instructors are technically trained in ballet, making them fully aware of how the body operates. They have fun, but they get it done! Join us for “Barrecrawl” to explore barre in and out. With barreclassic, barrecardio, and barrestretch all intertwined into one, we know this will be your favorite workout, ever!

Dec. 7: Fuse Pilates® (Studio F)
Fuse Pilates®, the original Fuse class, is a flowing mat class, choreographed on the spot, to music, around three body parts as requested by the students. Lower abs? Glutes? Arms? Back? Muffin top? Saddlebags? Love handles? Throw out your request, and we’ll help you redefine it.

Jan. 4: Doonya: The Bollywood Workout (Studio F)
Doonya: The Bollywood workout is a dance based high-intensity interval training fitness program. Spend 55 minutes sweating to the powerful drum beats of South Asia. Starting with a movement breakdown, you are equipped with the exotic, energetic steps to take you through 8-11 songs. Each heart pounding routine targets a major muscle group group through innovative choreography and body-weight and weighted movements. Class ends with stretches and a reflection on the strength and power you channeled in class.

Feb.1: Gaga/People (Studio J)
Gaga/people classes offer a framework for users to connect to their bodies and imaginations, experience physical sensations, improve their flexibility and stamina, exercise their agility and explosive power, and enjoy the pleasure of movement in a welcoming, accepting atmosphere. Throughout the class, participants are guided by a series of evocative instructions deployed to increase awareness of and further amplify sensation. Rather than turning from one prompt to another, information is layered, building into a multisensory, physically challenging experience. Inside this shared research, the improvisational nature of the exploration enables each participant’s deeply personal connection with Gaga.

Mar. 7: Zumba® (Studio F)
Description: Zumba® is dance-based cardio workout set to a fusion of Latin and International rhythms. Move your body to salsa, merengue, samba, flamenco, reggaeton, and much more! Modifications are encouraged and all fitness levels are welcome. Each Zumba® class is designed to bring people together to sweat and smile!
