Under the artistic direction of pianist and NEA Jazz Master Carla Bley, Charlie Haden’s Liberation Music Orchestra celebrates the life and music of bassist, composer, and NEA Jazz Master Charlie Haden (1937–2014) with special guest Joe Lovano.

Under the artistic direction of pianist and NEA Jazz Master Carla Bley, Charlie Haden’s Liberation Music Orchestra celebrates the life and music of bassist, composer, and NEA Jazz Master Charlie Haden (1937–2014) with special guest Joe Lovano. The Liberation Music Orchestra formed in 1969 under Haden’s leadership and connected political ideals with avant-garde jazz. Bley, who arranged music for the big band, remains in high demand as a composer for some of today’s biggest jazz, blues, and rock artists.
