The award-winning Biava Quartet, the Lisa Arnhold Quartet in Residence at the Juilliard School and Quartet in Residence at Brevard Music Center, returns to the Kennedy Center with an all-new program exploring the rich legacy of Jewish music in modern France. Joined by special guests mezzo-soprano Margaret Mezzacappa and pianist Konstantin Soukhovetski, they will feature several works by Darius Milhaud, including his quartet based on his own Provençal Jewish musical heritage, a wartime string quartet by Alexandre Tansman, Maurice Ravel's famed Jewish songs, and Charles-Valentin Alkan's remarkable Chopinesque Hebrew prayers, newly arranged for voice and strings.  Performance Timing: Part One - 45 min.; Intermission - 15 min.; Part Two - 40 min.
