Featuring The Washington Ballet Orchestra

The ballet Romeo & Juliet  was created by choreographer John Cranko for the Stuttgart Ballet and had its world premiere in 1962. It garnered immediate praise from both critics and audiences and was first seen in the U.S. in 1969. The intricate and timeless tale of Shakespeare's star-crossed lovers is told through vivid characterizations, clear dramatic structure, and masterful dancing, all set to Sergei Prokofiev's exuberant score.
