America the Beautiful
National Symphony Orchestra
Emil de Cou, conductor

Celebrating the National Park Service's Centennial, the NSO and Wolf Trap Opera offer a picturesque musical journey across America--honoring many of the nation's finest landmarks with music from Bernstein's Fanfare for the Inauguration of John F. Kennedy, Copland's "Promise of Living" from The Tender Land, Grofé's "On the Trail" from Grand Canyon Suite, patriotic favorites, a new work featuring bass-baritone Alan Held, and more. The program also premieres the National Park Suite image collection, performed by multimedia artist Nicholas Bardonnay of Westwater Arts on in-house screens only, set to Dvorák's "New World" Symphony.
