Dance Master Classes at the Kennedy Center offer an opportunity to take classes led by some of the most talented and creative artists in the world of dance. This participatory, intermediate-advanced, class for adults (sorry, no observers allowed) is led by company members from New York City Ballet.
Mar. 31 - Apr. 5, 2020
This program includes two works by George Balanchine: Stravinsky Violin Concerto, a streamlined leotard ballet of unceasing appeal that includes two of his most ingenious pas de deux, and Haieff Divertimento, a piece that combines popular American dance idioms with modern dance and classic ballet. In Christopher Wheeldon’s Liturgy, set to music by Arvo Pärt, two dancers separate and reconnect with ever-increasing intensity. The company also brings Edwaard Liang’s Lineage, which abstracts and deconstructs Georgian folk dance set to Apollo by composer Oliver Davis.
