Sahba Motallebi is recognized internationally as a modern virtuoso of the tar and setar, lute-like stringed instruments central to one of the world’s great musical traditions. She began studying music as a young girl in Sari, northern Iran, and continues to perform worldwide. Motallebi has released a series of noted books as well as 10 recordings.

Anne Hampton Callaway: The Linda Ronstadt Songbook celebrates the many faces of love in Ronstadt’s iconic songs from her Stone Poney Days, her pop/rock classics, songs from her three Nelson Riddle albums, and her iconic duets which Callaway will perform with her brilliant MD, Billy Stritch. Adding to the electrifying sound is Martin Wind on bass, Tim Horner on drums, and Ronstadt’s long time guitarist and arranger, Bob Mann. Romantic, rousing, and joyous, The Linda Ronstadt Songbook promises to be the perfect night of music.

In this performance, we celebrate the wide world of Michael Tilson Thomas—affectionately known as MTT—from his relationships with Stravinsky and Copland to his own compositions and collaborations with artists such as James Brown. We’ll feature world-class musicians like soprano Susanna Phillips, cellist Oliver Herbert, the Sixth Floor Trio, and alumni of MTT’s own New World Symphony. The program is curated by MTT’s student and protégé Teddy Abrams.

The Peace Ringers and Carol Ringers

The Peace Ringers (adult group) and Carol Ringers (high school students) from St. Matthew’s United Methodist Church, Annandale, Virginia, will present an English handbell concert. The repertoire will include sacred and secular carols representing many decades of music.
