The Jazz Academy of Music, a non-profit 501c3 organization established in 2002, is a manifestation of a longtime dream of Paul Carr, its Music Director, to extend the music education opportunities afforded him, as an inner city youth, to others.

The Jazz Academy Orchestra “JAO” is a large ensemble where young musicians grades 7th through 12th learn and perform the big band charts of Duke Ellington, Glen Miller and other writers of the big band era and beyond
