Program

Washington’s premiere contemporary ballet company, Chamber Dance Project, has reimagined their new works as a series of dance films. Company dancers and choreographers collaborated with filmmakers to create seven unique films, shot at locations around the country during 2020 and 2021.

An evening of screenings of these innovative works include Berceuse, a duet filmed in a soaring atrium of the Milwaukee Museum of Art designed by Santiago Calatrava; the powerful A Single Light, created by the dancers in their own homes; and the intimate Sarabande, set against the backdrop of the immense Sepulveda Dam in Los Angeles. Premiere showings include the sweeping Waltz, filmed in an opulent Beaux Arts-era ballroom in Washington; the vibrant ensemble piece Dwellings, set on a local rooftop; and a work filmed in the historic Wilkes Street Tunnel in Old Town Alexandria.

Post-Show reception

The Evening’s first screening is followed by a private cocktail reception with the Artistic Director, Diane Coburn Bruning, artists and filmmakers. Guests will be able to meet and discuss the films with our creative team to learn more about the works and the process in this burgeoning genre of dance.
