Asian American Music Society

The Asian American Music society was founded in 1989 as an organization dedicated to the continued appreciation of all music. We believe that all cultures bring their own unique flavor to the world of music.  We seek to proudly display that diversity through concerts, workshops, galas, and other various events around the Greater Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.

AAMS promotes cultural diversity by blending eastern and western styles, and to creating opportunities for musicians from all corners of the world.  Previously AAMS produced the world premiere of the contemporary opera "Lan-Ying" by An-Ming Wang, Asian Song Festival, Asian Chamber Music Festival at the Terrace Theater, Kennedy Center.  AAMS presented performances for the Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month Celebration at the Millennium Stage, Kennedy Center for over two decades.  AAMS also performed in many embassies as well as NASA, HUD, CIA, FBI, FDA, NIH, and GSA.

We promote opera and musical theatre through the annual AAMS International Summer Music Institute in Korea, Italy, Luxembourg, Sweden, and Finland.  The AAMS Emerging Young Artist Workshop at the REACH, Kennedy Center bridges the gap between being a student and a young artist. We hold our annual Piano, String, Woodwind, and Voice Competition for the grades K to 12 on the 4th weekend of October.  Then, later we present the Young Musician’s Concert at the Millennium Stage, Kennedy Center.
