Razelle Benally

Oglala Lakota/Diné film director and screenwriter Razelle Benally holds a BFA from the Institute of American Indian Arts and is currently in her thesis year of MFA candidacy of Film Production at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. Primarily focusing on Fiction Narratives, Benally integrates her lived experience as an Indigenous woman into much of her work. Giving her characters unique agency and allowing a nuanced complexity to breathe in her cinema. As a Documentarian, she believes the camera and her role to be vessels of access, only gathering visuals and emotions of what the subject wants to give.
