Gabriel Mata presents artistic work that merges dance and physical theater, his dances expose truths hidden behind the facade of choreography. Gabriel Mata is a Mexican-American dance choreographer, educator, and performer. He graduated from San Joseemstate University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance. The Star Tribune has called him Sly, subtle and totally virtuosic, theatrical dancer-choreographer Gabriel Mata holds the stage withemexpressive movement and witty words. He has been with sjDANCEco since 2012 as a performer and commissioned as a company choreographer. His dances have been performed in Minnesota, California, New York, North Carolina, and the District of Columbia. He has been awarded the Best of Fringe 2017 for his work Out of the Shadows, the Mina Garman Award for Excellence in Choreography and the Carol Ann Haws Award for Excellence in Performance.
