Kumail Nanjiani is an Oscar-nominated writer and critically acclaimed actor and comedian. Upcoming, Nanjiani will be seen starring in the 20th Century Fox film Stuber, opposite Dave Bautista and set to be released on May 24, 2019. The film follows a mild-mannered Uber driver named Stu (Nanjiani), who picks up a detective (Bautista) who is hot on the trail of a sadistic, bloodthirsty terrorist and finds himself thrust into an ordeal where he must use his wits to keep himself unharmed, while working with his passenger and maintaining his high-class rating. Nanjiani recently began production on the upcoming Sony Untitled Men In Black Spin-Off opposite Chris H sworth, Tessa Thompson, Liam Neeson, Rafe Spall, ma Thompson and Rebecca Ferguson. The film is set to be released on June 14, 2019. Additionally, Nanjiani will soon be heard voicing the character of Plimpton, the ostrich, in the upcoming Universal film The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle, opposite Robert Downey Jr., Antonio Banderas, Tom Holland, John Cena, Selena Gomez and Octavia Spencer, set to be released on April 12, 2019. Nanjiani recently attached himself as actor and writer for an upcoming TV adaptation of My Beautiful Laundrette being developed at Turner-owned Super Deluxe. Alec Berg and Hanif Kureishi will executive produce with Stephen Gaghan. The serialization will be based on the Oscar-nominated 1985 indie film, which revolved around a young British man of Pakistani heritage and his white boyfriend, a former gang leader, who take on running a London laundromat owned by the British-Pakistani man uncle. The film was lauded for its portrayal of the gay and immigrant communities. Nanjiani will co-write and star. Additionally, Nanjiani along with his wife, ily V. Gordon, have attached th selves to the Apple series Little America withemexecutive producer Lee Eisenberg (Smilf), co-creator/executive producer Alan Yang (Master of None) and Universal Television attached to the half-hour anthology series. The series is based off the true stories featured in EPIC MAGAZINE, that look at the funny, romantic, heartfelt, inspiring and unexpected lives of immigrants in America. On the television side, Nanjiani will reprise his starring role as Dinesh on season six of the my Award- winning HBO comedy series Silicon Valley, opposite Thomas Middleditch, Martin Starr and Zach Woods. Over the years, the series has won two Critic Choice Awards for Best Comedy Series and been named one of the AFI TV Programs of the Year. Recently, he and his wife, ily V. Gordon received an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay for The Big Sick, in which Nanjiani starred alongside Holly Hunter, Zoe Kazan and Ray Romano. premiering to tr endous acclaim at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival, the film was released by Amazon in Summer 2017, becoming one of the breakout hits of the year.
