Rosary Newcott

Ros ary Newcott is the Sally G. Tomlinson Director of Theatre for Youth and Families at Atlanta's Alliance Theatre. As such, Ros ary directs the annual production of A Christmas Carol and for the past 10 years, the High School (playwriting) Collision Project. Her TYA offerings at the Alliance will feature a new musical: Real Tweenagers of Atlanta, The Wizard of Oz, and two productions for the very young, A Child's Garden of Verse and The Tranquil Tortoise and the Hoppity Hare. Some of her favorite Alliance TYA productions are: Class of 3000 Live, Goodnight Moon, Seussical, The Stinky Cheese Man, and Einstein is a Dummy. Last winter, she directed the world premiere of Frida Libra at La Jolla Playhouse. Ros ary holds an M.A. in Theater from Northwestern University and a B.A. in English and Theater from New Jersey City University. She was named Atlanta Lexus Leader of the Arts for December 2001 and is a recipient of the prestigious Princess Grace Foundation Fellowship. She was recognized as Best Director of the Year in 2002 by the Atlanta Journal Constitution and in 2005 was awarded the Georgia Theatre Conference's Distinguished Career Award. She received the 2009 Princess Grace Special Projects award for her work with Andre Benjamin's Class of 3000 Live and last season received Atlanta's coveted "Spirit of Suzi Award." Ros ary is a proud board member of Theatre for Young Audiences/USA. Current as of 11/23/11
