Orange Grove Dance, founded in 2007 by Colette Krogol and Matt Reeves, is built on the ideals of integrating dance, design, film, and movement with all communities. Colette Krogol and Matt Reeves are dancers, choreographers, filmmakers, and teaching artists. They have been making work collaboratively for over ten years as the Artistic Directors of Orange Grove Dance. In 2017 they were selected as the Audience Choice Award winner of the 34th Annual Choreographers Showcase Award for their work Holding, Here, which was described by Dance Metro DC as a magically spun visual tale of suspension, tension, and community within a multilayered moving painting. Colette and Matt both hold BFAs in Dance from the University of Florida and MFAs from the University of Maryland. They are known for creating visually athletic experiences through the lenses of dance, film, and design. Though both originally hail from Florida, the company life has been spent in New York City and within the greater DC/Baltimore area. As Orange Grove Dance, they have taught master classes and workshops, as well as set repertory across the United States and Europe. Their work has been produced and presented extensively internationally by The Finlandia Foundation, The Jerusal Academy of Music and Dance, Lonnstrom Taid useo, Raumars AIR, Officina Creativa, CerCCa, and Klaustrid at Skriduklaustir. On film they have produced three dance films that have screened in cities from Munich, Germany to Boulder City, Nevada and their most recent film The Archetypes was nominated for an Arthouse Film Award by the Stockholm Independant Film Festival and will screen at the Et Cultura Film Festival this November. Both have been dancers and collaborators with prestigious companies, such as Dendy/Donovan Projects, Neta Dance Company, Diavolo, CKM Artists, David Dorfman, Gabrielle Lansner, Dance Tactics, and The National Yiddish Theatre. They both still currently work with Dendy/Donovan and served as assistant choreographers for the company Lincoln Center Out of Doors production of Ritual Cyclical in Hearst Plaza. This summer with Dendy/Donovan Projects they toured to Jacob Pillow and The American Dance Festival as dancers and collaborators. Currently they are back in the DC area serving as faculty at George Washington University and directing Orange Grove Dance through its tenth season, which includes works commissioned and presented by VelocityDC, CulturalDC, Dupont Underground, The Kennedy Center, Joe movement porium, and The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center. www.orangegrovedance.com
