The Peace Ringers & Carol Ringers

The Carol Ringers, high school youth, and the Peace Ringers, adultSemperform a repertoire of classical, sacred and popular music. They are two of ten ensembles at St. Matthew United Methodist Church in Annandale, VA and have made a serious commitment to play in church monthly and present concerts in the community. They have performed at the Kennedy Center since the early 1980. They have been guest artists of the Choral Arts Society, performing several times on the Concert Hall stage. They also have performed with the Air Force Band three times at Constitution Hall. The Carol Ringers enjoyed three performances at the State Department. Each group attends a Handbell Festival Conference each year and the youth spend several days on tour playing at local churches on the way to and from the festival. Nancy Cappel is in her 49th year serving as the Director of Music at St. Matthew UMC in Annandale, VA. She directs the 4 vocal choirs and 4 of the 6 handbell choirs. Nancy has a BS in Music Education from Manchester University and an MA in Music from Ball State University, both in Indiana. She taught elementary music for 9 years both in Indiana and Fairfax, taught private piano lessons for 25 years and directed 4 handbell choirs at The Potomac School in McLean, VA for 11 years. Nancy is very active in the Handbell Musicians of America, the national organization for handbell choirs. She has directed and served as a clinician for conferences and festivals for 35 years. The Carol and Peace RingerSemperform on seven octaves of Schulmerich handbells and seven octaves of Malmark choir chimes. They have recorded several volumes, the most recent called Holiday for bells. Impromptu and Who Let the Bells Out? will also be available for purchase.
