Mozart: Overture from La Clemenza di Tito
Mozart: Piano Concerto No. 23 in A major
Mendelssohn: Symphony No. 3, “Scottish”

Two classical superstars make their NSO debuts! Revel in the delicate poetry and wistful romance of Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 23 in the hands of Orion Weiss, celebrated worldwide as an “effortlessly brilliant performer” with “powerful technique and exceptional insight” (The Washington Post).

Hailed as “fearless, bold, and a life-force” (San Diego Union-Tribune) and “a brilliant and commanding conductor with unmistakable charisma” (Leipzig Volkszeitung), Ken-David Masur closes the evening with a declaration of joy in Mendelssohn’s heavenly Symphony No. 3—inspired by the composer’s travels to the British Isles and the rolling Scottish landscape.

Michael Tilson Thomas has withdrawn from the National Symphony Orchestra’s concerts on November 16 & 18, 2023. His doctors recommend that MTT greatly reduce his travel schedule and that there be more space between concert performances. Ken-David Masur will replace MTT.

Song of the Night: Noseda conducts Mahler’s Seventh Symphony

May 30 - Jun. 1, 2024

Join Gianandrea Noseda on a wild journey into twilight... Composed in a furious burst of inspiration, the Seventh is Mahler at his most mysterious. Indulgent, elusive, and delightfully raw, the Seventh is a problem child for some conductors, but not Noseda. From clanging cowbells and titanic brass to intimate midnight mandolin, Mahler’s glamorous, dusk-to-dawn universe is far beyond this world.
