The world’s 165 major rivers and thousands of smaller waterways connect human beings in innumerable ways. What happens to one—good or bad—affects us all. This floor installation by Cuban artist Raupa evokes that concept, intertwining the names of more than 400 rivers in a single flowing stream.

Celebrate D.C.’s rivers with a selfie at the POTOMAC and ANACOSTIA installations designed by Raupa on the REACH lawn.

The Stories That Fabric Tells

“I firmly believe that Creating art and Folk Art which I call the people’s art by ordinary people has the capacity to affect the spirit. Really feel it is spirit driven.” –Carolyn Mazloomi, Quilting Community Advocate
