View Schedule

We The Peoples Before will explore deep truths and reflections about the histories and experiences of this country’s Native peoples and center the healing, strength, and joy of our communities for generations to come. As part of this journey, we will be introducing an Indigenized curriculum that challenges educators and students to learn about Indigenous cultures, histories, art, and stories from first contact through the present day.

The recently selected We The Peoples Before Education Fellows, a diverse team of Indigenous educators, are tasked with developing the curriculum that will take students and teachers along a path from Indigenous dispossession to resilience, all while challenging educational narratives that negatively and inaccurately portray Indigenous experiences. Students will follow a learning journey that enables them to know, honor and share authentic, accurate, and positive representations of Indigenous peoples through free, cross-disciplinary, engaging project-based curriculum and resources. High-quality media embedded within lessons and units will highlight Indigenous artists and culture bearers from the First Peoples Fund.

The 50th Anniversary of the Kennedy Center

Celebrate With Us

For the past 50 years, we’ve carried President Kennedy’s call to action forward as the nation’s cultural center. In change and challenge, there has never been a greater need for the arts. As we look to the next 50, we’re asking: what can WE do… together?
